What Makes New Home Builders Good?

I have been a homebuilder for over 32 years and I have made my share of mistakes. We all have made mistakes in our life. But the differences between a good builder and not so good builder is,
“What do they do after they have made a mistake”.
What a builder dose after he or she finds out about the mistake is a true test of their character as a person and whether you should consider them a good builder.
Now, there is more to a good builder than his or hers character, because a good builder will have less mistake to fix than a not so good builder. So here is what you should look for when you are trying to find a good builder.
- How well do you communicate with him or her? “Conflict occurs when expectation is not met”. So how well do you commutated with them and do you both share the same vision.
- How well organized are they? They are 1000’s of moving parts in building a new home. If he or she is not well organized, you expectation will be hard to be met.
- How educated are they in the building industry? Are they giving you ideas on how to save you money or are they just giving you ideas on how to spend more money?
- How passionate are they about building your new home? People who love their job do a better job than people who are just there for a pay check.
- What have they accomplished in the past? Great builders tend to have completed great things in the past.
- If the deal seems to be too good to be true? It probably is. You all make mistake and if you are getting something that is too good to be true, they is a mistake somewhere
