Design Your New Home

When it comes to designing a new home in today market, buyers tend to go one of 2 ways. They either become scared to make decision and find the process very stressful or they view it as a challenge that they are going to have fun with. Either way, the best way to prepare for this is to acquire knowledge. Knowledge and information will help you make the most inform decision. The most informed decision tends to be the best one. I’ve helped a lot of buyers design their new homes over the years, and I’ve discovered there are several important guidelines you can follow to make the process a little less confusing…and a lot more fun.

To get started, people must try to put themselves in the right frame of mind. The first thing I always tell buyers is to prepare to enjoy themselves, This is an exciting and fun time, and it’s important to relax and try not to worry too much. Some people can feel a little overwhelmed and intimidated by all the choices they’re faced with but if you organize your thoughts and write down your concerns and questions, you will find it extremely enjoyable.
One question people often ask is how they can make a brand new house feel like their own unique home. Many people think of new houses as big white walls and clean palettes—and they know it’s up to them to fill in the details to turn that fresh, new space into a beautiful, comfortable place that feels like home. If possible, bring fabric swatches of your furniture to help coordinate your finishes. Make a list of questions and ideas you have so you make sure to address every detail when it comes time for your design appointment.
Another thing to remember is to not go too wild with trendy colors. Using neutrals for more permanent items, such as counter tops and flooring, will ensure that your new home has a timeless appeal. You can let your creative side shine through with the addition of bright or fashionable colors on the furniture, bedding, drapery and artwork, which can be changed out more easily.
Paint is one finishing touch that can have a significant impact on the style and feel of a new home. Features like paint can enliven and complement all your other signature finishes. Painting your walls a warm, rich color is an easy way to give your home that cozy, comfortable feel. For a personalized look, you can coordinate your paint color with a favorite piece of furniture, or maybe some artwork or an heirloom area rug.
It is also very important to try and make choices that will enhance the value of your new house, This means choosing the finishing touches that will not only make your new house more enjoyable to live in, but may also make it easier to sell, often at a higher price than a comparable house at the same location.
For example, your kitchen is the room most used by any family. Whether it is your family or if you are entertaining, the kitchen is the most used room. It is also the first room buyers look at once you have decide to sell your new home in the future. Cabinets are one of the most significant features in your new home, and they are a difficult item to change in the future. I recommend choosing beautiful, quality cabinets because they have such a tremendous impact on the overall style of your new home.
